Hydrant flushing- DPW will be flushing hydrant, water mains this Thursday and Friday nights May 14th & 15th from 9PM – 5AM.

DPW will be flushing hydrant, water mains this Thursday and Friday nights May 14th & 15th from 9PM – 5AM.  Please pass the message along to all.

It starts at water tank down Academy Street to Main Street to River Street. All Flushing is west of Academy Street on the first night.  Also good to pass along to any one you know that has not used their building in the last 2 months.  They should flush out the standing water that is in their plumbing. Let cold water run first, to bring fresh water in from mains, then through the whole house or building. There is nothing wrong with water, just has been sitting there for a while.  Joe Hornbeck

NOTICE: No Pool & No “Camp Here” This Summer

The Trustees and Mayor have made the difficult decision not to open the Village pool this season. Due to Covid-19 and additional guidance from the Governor’s office it will be impossible to have the Village pool open while maintaining social distancing requirements. This also means that there will be no “Camp Here” available this summer.

Delaware County has agreed to provide a temporary bridge to the Village of Stamford

Delaware County has agreed to provide a temporary bridge to the Village of Stamford so that we may open South Street to vehicular traffic (with a weight limit). The Covid-19 crisis has pushed all county projects into the future so this temporary measure will get the street open to through traffic once more. The temporary bridge is scheduled to be installed on Monday April 27th.

Update from the Governor

Monday has brought some encouraging news out of Albany. The Governor reports that the number of Covid-19 deaths in New York State realized a slight decline on Sunday Vs. Saturday. The hopeful expectation is that this will become a trend and we can anticipate a general decline in the number of those succumbing to this disease.

No additional directives have been issued and the social distancing, work from home rules remain. The Governor and president have suggested that a mask be worn whenever we are in public and especially when encountering others as in grocery stores etc.

From the Governor

The Governor’s office has directed that all Village elections previously postponed until April 28th have now been postponed indefinitely. Those currently serving will remain in office until a new election date has been set. We await further information from Abany.
